Eviction Night
Rick Devens spent $10,000 on a curse, and Melody Morris paid for it.
The Pharaoh's Curse bought the house an extra eviction, and Devens — sitting on the tiny HOH he'd won on Sunday — had to decide who it came for. He didn't want it to be Drew. Those two built a father-son thing over seventy-odd days, and Devens has said more than once that Drew is the one person he'd want beside him at the end. But Dee, his actual number one, wanted Drew gone, and Taylor wanted the showmance broken up on principle.
So Devens found a third answer, and it was the sharpest move of his season: he nominated both of them. Put Melody up next to anyone else and Drew wins the veto and takes her down. Put Melody up next to Drew and the veto becomes a gun that can only be pointed one way. Devens didn't choose which of them went home. He built the machine that chose for him.
Then Drew went out and won the thing anyway.
The Egyptian Tomb Challenge sent the final five ferrying a Pharaoh's remains back to his sarcophagus through a lattice of booby-trapped ropes, every trip wire adding a strike. Drew finished with 15. Dee had 21, Devens 22. Drew took the veto, walked to the ceremony, and used it on himself — the only move available to him, and the one that left the person he cared most about sitting alone in the chair beside him.
Devens named Taylor as the replacement, and the vote came down to two people. Drew voted to evict Taylor. Dee voted to evict Melody. One apiece — and for the second time in one night, the man who built the week had to be the one to finish it. Devens broke his own tie.
Melody Morris, evicted 2–1, the fifth member of the jury. She hugged Drew on her way out and told him to win it all. He broke down watching her go.
Four left — Drew, Taylor, Devens and Dee — and eight days until the finale.
