The Recap
Yash Patel won the most powerful thing in the house on Wednesday night and then made a point of doing absolutely nothing with it.
"BB Comics." BB Comic Con came to the back yard, every houseguest drawn as a superhero on their own cover, and the game was memory with a trapdoor: climb the ladder, zip-line slowly past a window to learn the order of the covers, come down, and rebuild that order from a pile seeded with bootleg variants — near-identical fakes with one small thing changed. Ride again as many times as you need. Fastest correct board wins.
Yash: 13:46. Devens: 14:12. Dee: 17:09. Angela, Taylor and Barrett never got there. Twenty-six seconds decided it, and it is Yash's third veto of the season.
The comp was funnier than the margin suggests. Taylor Brown did the smart thing — laid every comic out and hunted the differences before riding — and then got her own cover wrong. Devens memorised the board by the first letter of each title and still rebuilt it wrong several times before it clicked. Barrett wanted to work two comics at a time, got sidetracked by the aura of the Pipe Queen herself, and spent a portion of his run quietly upset that he appeared to be the only person in the house drawn as a villain. Angela did not come close and announced she was proud of herself for not timing out. Dee went last, felt every second of it, nailed the setup first try and then bled the clock hunting variants.
But the story started at the draw. Barrett pulled first as HOH and had promised a spot to both Yash and Drew. He picked Yash. Angela pulled next, weighed Drew against Taylor, and took Taylor — because she thought Taylor would be easier to beat. Melody hosted. Which left Drew Campbell frozen out of the veto by two different people who had reason to bring him in, and set the tone for everything after.
At the ceremony, Yash left it in his pocket. He gave each nominee their say first, and all three used it on Barrett rather than on him.
Angela congratulated Yash and then turned to the Head of Household with a promise: "I won the BB Blockbuster once, and I'll do it again." Dee complimented him too, then crossed the room into Barrett's space — "You're gonna go from 6'6 to 5'2, buddy. You're gonna shrink… like a snail when you put salt on it." Devens reminded Yash exactly where he stands with Barrett and promised that if he survives Thursday he is coming for the HOH and everyone standing near him. Melody's review of the whole thing: "a meeting of Clown College."
None of it moved Yash. "We've been saying this since the start, bro. Get them the f— out of this game. Nothing changes now." He told Angela privately that he would have saved her if he could — but he believed Taylor was the replacement, and he would not do that to her. He also had a simpler reason: Barrett had already told Drew that if an Icon won this veto, Yash was going up. Winning it was the plan.
Then Barrett buried his own alliance. Devens put it to him straight — "It's four for four for Crossover members. What happened?" Barrett's answer was four words: "Social came in, man." The Crossovers are finished.
What replaced it is a ceasefire. Barrett, Drew, Melody, Taylor and Yash — the five newbies — agreed not to point at each other until the Icons are gone. Melody's read: if they run it properly, it is the top five. Taylor and Yash already do not trust Drew to honour it.
And Drew is the crack in everything. Passed over twice, he went at Barrett in the HOH room and again in the back yard, where Devens spotted him fuming and made him say out loud who he was angry at. Drew obliged, and then some: he outed the HOH-room conversation about pulling Angela down and putting Yash up, and said plainly that Yash is still his target. His diary room was bleaker still — he does not trust anyone left, and "doesn't even like anyone at this point."
No eviction tonight. Thursday, the three of them play the Block Buster; one saves themselves and the other two go to a vote. The house wants Devens — the biggest of the three, comps and social both — with Dee as the backup and Angela widely read as the safest name on the block.
Eight left. Three still sitting down. And the man holding the veto never took it out of his pocket.
