Julie opened the show by taking the entire week away. No Head of Household. No Power of Veto. No BB Block Buster. "There will be no Head of Household, no veto competition, no Block Buster," she told them, "but when all is said and done, someone's game will come to an end." Then she sent ten houseguests a thousand years into the past and let four Big Brother legends run the room.
Britney Haynes, Cody Calafiore, Tiffany Mitchell and Keanu Soto took turns hosting a bracket built out of Stones of Safety and Stones of Sacrifice. Win, and you take your own safety and hand a stone to someone else. Lose, and you stay in the Year 1000 until somebody drags you out of it. The stakes were spelled out on air: the winners were not just safe for the week, they were into the jury. Whoever was left standing in the arena at the end was going home a pre-juror.
Round one — the candelabra. Britney put all ten of them on a ring of candles that had to go up and stay up. Dee Valladares won it, took her own Stone of Safety, and handed the second one to Rick Devens without a beat of hesitation. Then she picked the next pair, and she picked ruthlessly: Drew Campbell and Haley Thogmartin.
Round two — the crop puzzle. Cody's carts-and-blocks build came down to Drew and Haley, and Drew won it. He thought out loud about protecting Melody Morris, then protected Angela Murray instead — Icons over friendship — and dropped a Stone of Sacrifice on Barrett Pfeiffer, sending him into the arena against Haley.
Round three — the wine press. Tiffany's balance-beam grape run pitted Barrett against Haley, and Barrett won, walking out with safety and a fistful of stones: two Safety, two Sacrifice, and the whole back half of the twist in his pocket.
And there the episode stopped.
Barrett never handed those stones out. The credits rolled with five houseguests already banked into jury — Dee, Devens, Drew, Angela and Barrett — and five still standing in the Year 1000: Haley, LaTrice Verrett, Melody Morris, Taylor Brown and Yash Patel. Haley has now lost twice and is the only one of them who has actually been beaten. Nobody went home tonight. Somebody goes home Wednesday.
The other thread running under all of it was Melody. She has not forgiven Drew for voting Mallory Aurichio out, and she said so in the plainest language anyone has used this season: "It feels as though her heart has been ripped out of her chest." Drew knows exactly what he did and said the quiet part in the diary room — their relationship may be terrible for her game. Barrett is carrying his own version of the same grudge against the Crossovers. Two of the three people with the most reason to blow this house up now have stones, and one of them has four.
No eviction tonight. Just a cliffhanger, and a man holding everybody's week in his hands.
